The Visitation: Love Doing the Impossible
Written by: Sister Mary Margaret Droege

Two women
Both touched by God
One too elderly
The other unmarried
Yet both carrying young life within

It should not be
One too elderly
The other unmarried
How can it be explained?

Months before:
Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son
I am old
My wife is advanced in years
Such a thing is utterly impossible
Impossible for God?

And another messenger:
You will bear a son
The Holy Spirit will come upon you
I am Your handmaid
May it be done as You have said.
Impossible for God?

Two women
Both touched by God
One too elderly
The other unmarried
Both carrying young life within.
How can it be explained?

Is an explanation needed?
Can God’s goodness be limited?
Can God’s love be contained?

Love overflowing
Love doing the impossible
Back then

Love overflowing
Love doing the impossible
Today
In my life
In your life
Have you seen it?
