Assumed Into Heavenly Glory
Written by: Sister Valerie Schneider
Blessed Trinity, what joy was Yours as You greeted Mary when she was assumed into Heaven! We can only imagine the hugs, kisses, and words of acclamation shared between Mary, the mother and her Son.
In Jesus we are all called to the same intimacy, united with God for all time. God would not allow decay to touch Mary’s body, for from her body Christ was born. May we strive to imitate Mary, so that heavenly glory will be ours, if we, like Mary, hear God’s word and keep it.
The first to accept Jesus Christ into her life on Earth, Mary is fittingly the first to enjoy eternal life in her bodily state. Mary’s Assumption is a grace that we, too, will be given at the end of time to enjoy eternal life in the new order of creation in our bodies. We pray that we will be with our relatives and friends and all creation enjoying one another in body and being.
We pray to Mary in her ever-vigilant intercession and to her Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
