Lenten Homeless Project

Notre Dame Center, Thousand Oaks

The Sisters at Notre Dame Center Residence purchased needed items (socks, underwear and hygiene items) for the homeless served by Lutheran Social Services.  Lutheran Social Services offers drop-in services for homeless and low-income individuals, providing access to food, showers and laundry facilities. This faith-based non-profit networks with the Sherriff’s Department as well as a number of religious communities around Ventura County to provide short-term and long-term solutions to homelessness. The Thousand Oaks-based Sisters collected more than 100 pairs of socks and 10 packages of underwear, in addition to clothes, scarves and shoes. Sr. Rebekah Kennedy, SND said, “We see the homeless on our streets here in Thousand Oaks daily and hope that these clothing donations will provide a renewed sense of human dignity.”
