For over 100 years, we have contributed to the growth of the flourishing system of Catholic schools in Northeast Ohio, collaborating with outstanding lay women and men in staffing parishes to offer a variety of educational services to both young and adult learners. Today, we serve thousands of students in the Greater Cleveland area through these SND founded institutions:

Health Care

Notre Dame Village – a unique collaboration between two non-profit organizations: The Sisters of Notre Dame, and Jennings, who is celebrating 75 years of offering residences and services for adults. Click here for more information.

Blessing House a safety net for families in crisis which provides safe shelter for children and support for their families. Blessing House offers a variety of services including a homelike environment, transportation to school and doctor appointments, healthy meals and more. Learn more and support this mission here.

House of Champions –  a nurturing and safe setting with a family-like environment where children in Grades 1 to 4 have opportunities to learn life skills which will give them the confidence to succeed. The focus is on strengthening academic achievements, practicing communication techniques, and learning respectful and appropriate social skills. Located on Cleveland’s west side, the House of Champions offers services Monday through Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Click here to sign up online or download our volunteer form.

Women’s Outreach Center – The River’s Edge Women’s Outreach Center is designed to support women who have experienced homelessness, are in transition, and in need of support. Women’s Outreach Center empowers women as they strive to realize their potential and attain self-sufficiency. This is a ministry of the Congregation of Saint Joseph where SNDs collaborate.  For more information, click here.

Spiritual Development

Bethany Retreat Center – Located in Chardon, OH, the Bethany Retreat Center offers a place of peace, beauty and simplicity for deepening one’s relationship with God. Accommodations include 25 single bedrooms, a chapel, dining room, small-group meeting spaces and a large conference room overlooking a wooded landscape. The center is available Fall through Spring and provides a welcoming space for prayer, renewal, spiritual direction and retreats. Prayer Line Ministry – The power of prayer is available to everyone, and the sisters consider Prayer Line ministry one of the most critical and needed ministries in the world today. Whether prayer requests are happy, sad, terrifying, or exciting, the Sisters of Notre Dame are always available to join you in prayer.

Young and old, of all nationalities and faiths, and even those struggling in their personal faith journey are encouraged to call the SND Prayer Line day or night, 365 days a year. A sister is there to personally answer calls from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Calls received at other times go to voice mail.
