A Prayerful Reflection on the Last Supper

The Night He Gave Us Everything
Written by: Sister Nanette Herman

Passover
You shall prepare
An unblemished lamb.
“He was slain for our offenses.”
With its blood
Mark your lintels and doorposts.
Gird your loins, sandals on your feet
An angel will pass over…..
Hurry.
Moses led them out…
Egypt…the Upper Room.
The Passover…the Last Supper.
“One of you will betray me…
Is it I, Lord?
Do what you have to do.
Judas went out into the night.
He took bread,
Unless the grain of wheat fall…and die.
This is my body, take and eat.
He took wine
I am the vine, you are the branches.
This is my blood, do this in memory of me.
They began their descent…
The stone steps, the Kidron Valley,
The garden of Gethsemane, Calvary.
On the third day…were you there?
