Born Patricia Joan in Cincinnati, OH, Sister Christa Marie (formerly Sister Mildred Ann) attended Notre Dame Academy before answering God’s call to religious life and entering the Sisters of Notre Dame. After making her first profession, she continued her education at Villa Madonna College and began her ministry in Catholic education, serving at several schools in Birmingham, AL and Kentucky.
Sister Christa Marie later pursued studies at the Mayo Clinic School of Physical Therapy and spent 25 years serving at St. Charles Care Center in Covington, KY where she shared her skills and compassionate care with all those she served.
Her deep love for the Eucharist eventually led Sister Christa Marie to Rome, where she joined the perpetual adoration community at the Sisters of Notre Dame Generalate. She spent 23 years in Rome, devoted to prayer and service while continuing her work as a physical therapist and caring for her fellow sisters.
After returning to Covington, Sister Christa Marie served as Sacristan at St. Joseph Heights and later continued assisting with the chapel at Lourdes Hall.
Throughout her 74 years of religious life, Sister Christa Marie shared God’s goodness through her devotion to the Eucharist, compassionate service and faithful presence to others.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 20 at 10 a.m. in Lourdes Hall at St. Charles Community, Covington and interment in the convent cemetery.
