On behalf of the Sisters of Notre Dame, please know that we gratefully include you in our daily prayer. We regularly receive many prayer requests. Some are written in a book of intentions at the entrance to our chapel. Others are included through our Gift of Prayer or Memorial programs. We
may speak these aloud or hold them in the silence of our hearts. But as our relatives, friends, colleagues, students, volunteers and donors, you have “provoked us to be grateful” for your encouragement and support. So we are sending you an abundance of hope, accompanying our
prayerful gratitude.

In this photo, Sr. Mary Ann Culpert, our Superior General, presented him with a replica of the Annatal Cross, an image that inspired our founding sisters in prayer.

Wednesday, October 1 is Foundation Day for the Sisters of Notre Dame, and we will be celebrating 175 years since our founding. In the words of Sr. Mary Ann Culpert, our Superior General, “We thank and praise our God’s goodness and provident care in sustaining us these 175 years and using us as instruments in transforming the world and co-creating
with God a new heaven and a new earth. Confident that God will always provide, we place our HOPE in the words spoken to us through the prophet Jeremiah: ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’ (Jer.29:11) ….From the tiny mustard seed planted in Germany 175 years ago we now circle the globe, incarnating the love of our good and provident God.” Our congregational website showcases the

Messages of Hope: Celebrating 175 Years

In celebration of their 175th anniversary as a congregation, Sisters of Notre Dame from across the United States share messages of hope for young people today. Each sister also shared a story of a fellow sister who has inspired her vocation. 79 sisters generously shared their wisdom.

Congratulations to the 100 lay men and women who share in the SND charism as Associates of the California Region. They gathered to celebrate 25 years of Associates in California, and welcome 5 new individuals into the group!

August 2025 California E-gram

Summer memories included a National gathering of sisters as well as local celebrations in California. On Saturday, August 16, approximately 85 SNDs, Associates and guests
celebrated 25 years of Association in California. We welcomed five new
Associates and honored the pioneers, both living and deceased. The festivities brought a distinct feeling of prayer and fellowship through a liturgy, reception, memorabilia display and a commemorative slide show.
