Summer is often a time for family reunions, and in many ways, that has been our experience this summer—with a much broader understanding of family! We are often hearing the phrase “we are part of a great story” which we can paraphrase as “we are part of a great family.” As chronicled in this egram, our 2023 Jubilee Celebration and East Africa Zoom were just that—opportunities to experience and celebrate our SND spirit and mission.

When you educate a girl, you educate a community

Too often, a young girl is sold into marriage by her own father, becoming a mother even as a child. Reports also show that education makes a difference in preventing these unjust realities. We have been blessed with opportunities to educate both girls and boys of all ages, but gender disparity continues to be an ugly sign of the times. Especially in the East African countries of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, we are reaffirming our commitment to women.
