The Sisters of Notre Dame will host the Third Annual SHINE Women’s Summit on Thursday, November 7, 2024. This event will bring women of all faiths, ages and backgrounds together at the Parkway Place to celebrate women – all that they do and all that they are capable of doing.

“Empowering women has been a common thread in our ministries since the Sisters of Notre Dame was founded in 1850,” said Sr. Mary Carol Gregory, SND Mission Advancement Advisor. “As a congregation, SND has always responded to the needs of the times. Positive encouragement of, and among, women is certainly a need right now.”

With this year’s event themed ‘Reach for the Stars’, SHINE Women’s Summit 2024 will highlight contributions women have made to the STEMM fields. The program will include a keynote conversation with the first American woman to walk in space and national speaker, Dr. Kathy Sullivan, hosted by Chrys Peterson. Peterson will also facilitate a panel discussion with local women making a difference in the community through their work in STEMM. Panelists are Sr. Ethel Parrott, SND, Adrienne Bell of First Solar, Adrienne Taylor from SSOE, DeVon Overton of the United Way of Greater Toledo and Andrea Gwyn from Mercy St. Anne’s.

SHINE Women’s Summit will feature the induction of the 2024 cohort of Women Who SHINE, five women who have been nominated and selected for exemplifying excellence in their ability to support, honor, inspire, nurture and empower others. This year’s honorees are Dr. Shaili Desai with the Toledo Clinic, Dr. Anne Ruch of Compassion Health Toledo, Jennifer Van Horn from Toledo Metroparks, Sloan Eberly Mann with Imagination Station and Dr. Monica Holiday Goodman from the University of Toledo.

The evening will kick off with a welcome expo and reception at 4:00 p.m. with dinner and the speakers’ program beginning at 5:30 p.m.

SND Mission Advancement Director, Kerri Rose-Rochelle, said, “We hope to fill the room on November 7 with women from all walks of life and create a spirit of encouragement and empowerment.”​

Proceeds raised through this event will help fund the work of the SHINE Coalition and other ministries supported by Sisters of Notre Dame.
